5 amazing things about simplicity

SIMPLICITY OFFERS OBVIOUS BENEFITS, SUCH A LESS STUFF, LESS COMMITMENTS, LESS DISTRACTIONS.

IT OFFERS MORE TIME, MORE SPACE, MORE USEABLE RESOURCES.

HERE ARE 5 AMAZING OTHER THINGS I DISCOVERED ABOUT SIMPLICITY:

  1. You become authentic to YOU.

Simplicity allows you to be who you were created to be.  Period.  No need to "keep up with the Jones' " and all their stuff.  No need to buy things because it's the latest trend or the "in" thing (ever bought something in the "in" color, to realize you HATE that color?!  Or buy a piece of clothing cause everyone is wearing "it", and realize your body does not suit that style, at all?!).  You can just "be" you.  Simplicity in your life and in your home is a very personal thing - no right "amount" is right.  You get to experiment and decide what simplicity will look like to you.  But no matter the amount of commitments, stuff, etc that you decide is just right for you, simplicity allows you to be authentic about your values.  What matters most to you.  It's as simple as that.

2. You will enjoy people more

Simplicity puts people first.  Simplicity allows you to value people and treat them like you would want to be treated.  Since you are free to be "you", you are not concerned about impressing others, pleasing them or competing with them.  You are able to enjoy people for the gift that they are.  People are the simplest of gifts.

3. You will find decisions easier to make

Simplicity means less choices.  Less choices mean that when it's decision time about something, it's easier to decide.  And since the decision will align with your values, you will know that you have made the right decision.  Simply for you.

4. You get to be present

Simplicity focuses on the "what is" and enjoys the gift of the present.  I grew up in a home where there was "le magasin" (for you non Frenchies, this means "the store").  There was a large section of our home filled with "stock" and every possible item that you might need in any given situation.  It was quite remarkable, actually.  The "magasin" was filled to the brim at any given time.  When I first set up a home of my own, initially I too had "a magasin".  I thought everyone lived like this.  It brought me comfort, somehow, to know that IF "this and that" happened, I was covered.  I could go to the basement "magasin" and all would be well with the world.  Since beginning my journey about simplicity, I discovered that this was not how I wanted to live-to live in fear of the "what ifs", that more often than not, never came.    Simplicity offers you to have just what you need.  Because those "what ifs" (that never come) take room in your home and in your life.  Just simply be present for today and have faith that what you need for tomorrow will be provided for you when you need it.

5. You get to be fully healthy

Last but not least, I discovered that simplicity allows me to be healthy.  Fully, wholly, healthy.  Am I there yet?  Of course not!  I am on a journey, like all of you.  I have discovered that simplicity in my life has allowed me to let go of all those things that were weighing me down.  This gave me more energy, more rest, more room for all those things that I love, such as spending time with my family, gardening, being creative, cooking.  Simple living, simple routines, simple meals. Simply healthy.
